Carly Gainey is entering her second season as the Head Coach of the women's lacrosse team after being hired in the fall of 2022. A native of Peachtree City, Georgia, Gainey has three years of coaching experience at the high school level. Carly is a 2022 graduate of Birmingham-Southern and played defense on the women's lacrosse team from 2018-2022. She was also a two-year captain.
In her career at BSC, Gainey was named to the SAA All-Conference Second Team in 2019, Birmingham-Southern College All-Sportsmanship Team in 2020, and SAA All-Conference Second Team in 2021. In her final season as a player, Carly received 2022 SAA All-Conference First Team and 2022 Division III All-Region First Team West honors. She also was the SAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. Â
