Birmingham-Southern College

Alyssa Wellborn was named Director of Sports Medicine in June of 2023. A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Alyssa Wellborn joined Birmingham-Southern College in July 2017 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Her primary responsibilities are volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball.  Wellborn is a nationally certified athletic trainer by the NATABOC and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers.

She is a 2015 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness while working with football and women’s basketball. In May of 2017 she completed her Master’s in Athletic Training from the University of South Florida. During her time at USF she worked with football, men’s tennis, and track and field along with a D2 college and a private high school. Parrinello also assisted with the 2016 D2 cross country national championships and multiple research studies. In the summer of 2016, she worked for Varsity Spirit providing medical services for cheer and dance camps across the southeast.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends along with traveling. She and her husband, Skip, were married in May 2022, and the couple resides in Hoover, Ala.
