Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—A goal from junior Dallas Coyne in the 88th minute helped the Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team defeat Brooklyn College, 2-1, Saturday night on Preston Goldfarb Field.
The Panthers remain unbeaten at 7-0-1, while the Bulldogs fell to 2-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brooklyn scored early in the game, with Jordy Ortiz finding the net off an assist from Valentyn Kharko.
- Junior Patrick Erickson scored the equalizer in the 38 minute, collecting a free kick from sophomore Tylan Jones.
- Coyne scored the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute, his fourth score of the season, off an assist from freshman Brother Swagler.
NOTABLE
- All four of Coyne's goals this season have been game-winners.
- BSC out-shot Brooklyn 14-12, but shots on goal were even at 4-4; Coyne led with six shots.
- Freshman Galen Curry played the entire game in goal for BSC, recording three saves.
- The Panthers held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-3.
- Prior to the game, the Brooklyn team surprised BSC Head Coach Preston Goldfarb with a gift and a thank you for his 33 years of service prior to his retirement at the end of the year.
