Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team rallied four second half goals to defeat Berry College 4-1 Sunday afternoon on Preston Goldfarb Field. Dallas Coyne (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) had a hat trick as BSC (9-4-1) improved to 3-2-1 in Southern Athletic Association play and now have a chance at hosting the first round of the conference tournament.
BSC outshot Vikings 22-9 in the win.
Berry (8-7, 3-3 SAA) opened scoring in the 20th minute. They would go into halftime ahead 1-0.
BSC responded on a penalty kick by Coyne in the 52nd minute. Coyne picked up his second goal of the day on a pass from Brother Swagler (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) in the 60th minute.
Tylan Jones (Peachtree City, Ga./College of Charleston) joined the scoring party in the 72nd minute. He picked up his third goal of the season off a deflection from Luke Etheridge's (Nolensville, Tenn./Ravenwood HS) shot.
Coyne closed out scoring with his third goal of the day sliding. He took a pass from Jackson Lynn (Homewood, Ala./Homewood HS) on the right side of the box.
Galen Curry (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) spent the full 90 minutes in goal to earn the win. He finished with three saves and is now 4-0-1 on the year.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 for senior day. BSC takes on Millsaps College in a doubleheader with the women's team. The men kickoff at 4 p.m. with the women following at 6 p.m.
