Men's Tennis defeats Berry in SAA Championship quarterfinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Birmingham-Southern men's tennis team defeated Berry College 6-0 Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Southern Athletic Association Championship at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The third-seeded Panthers moved to 15-5, while the sixth-seeded Vikings end their season at 7-8.

BSC won all three doubles points, with senior Patrick Hire and junior Alex Makarenko moving to 14-6, sophomore Jacob Weinacker and freshman Anthony Pellegrini moving to 15-4, and juniors Henry Crosby and David Goodloe moving to 10-8.

In singles play, Makarenko won at No. 1 to move to 15-5, followed by Hire at No. 3 to move to 16-4 and sophomore Lee Thompason at No. 6 to move to 15-4.

The Panthers will face second-seeded Oglethorpe tomorrow in the semifinals at 11 a.m.
