Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – The Birmingham-Southern's men's soccer team picked up a win in its first Southern Athletic Association match of the 2017 season on Saturday night. The Panthers earned the road 2-1 victory, improving to 4-3-1 on the year.
Senior forward Adam Clausen (Baton Rouge, La./Episcopal HS) opened up the scoring with an early, unassisted goal in the fourth minute. It was Clausen's fourth goal of the year.
Hendrix equalized soon after when Patrick Bell scored in the 15th minute. The Panthers and Warriors would take the 1-1 into halftime.
The ultimate game-winning goal for BSC would come from midfielder Alec Medd (Ottawa, Canada/Darlington School) when the senior put the ball past the Hendrix keeper in the 65th minute. The goal was Medd's first in 2017 and the fifth of his career.
Birmingham-Southern doubled the opportunities of Hendrix, outshooting the Warriors 14-7, with nine shots-on-target.
Junior goalkeeper Galen Curry (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) finished the match with five saves.
The Panthers will stay on the road, making a trip to the Mississippi University for Women on Sunday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 P.M.
