Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A second-half goal by Rhodes College sank the Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team 1-0 at home on Saturday night.
After a scoreless 71 minutes, the Lynx's Ian Schiller found his way on the end of a Mark Robinson cross and headed the ball in for the eventual game-winning goal.
Offensively, it was a slow first half for the Panthers, who took just one shot in the opening 45 minutes. BSC opened it up more in the second half with six shots but, for the game, could only find three shots on target.
Junior goalkeeper Galen Curry (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park HS) finished the match with two saves.
With the loss, BSC falls to 5-4-1 on the year with a 1-1 record in Southern Athletic Association play. Birmingham-Southern's next contest is another SAA matchup against Sewanee at home on Friday, Oct. 6. That game is scheduled to kick at 7:30 P.M.
