Box Score MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team fell 5-1 on the road at Berry College on Sunday afternoon, dropping to 6-5-1 on the season.
After falling behind 1-0 in the opening 10 minutes, BSC equalized in the 14th minute. However, Berry retook the lead soon after and did not surrender it for the remaining 70-plus minutes.
Birmingham-Southern's lone goal came from Coleman Jennings (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) via a Christian Hernandez (Fort Payne, Ala./Fort Payne HS) through ball assist in the 14th minute. The goal was Jennings' team-leading seventh and the assist was the fifth for Hernandez this season.
The Vikings took a 3-1 lead into halftime and scored two more times in the second half to secure the 5-1 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Kurt Moore (Eurharlee, Ga./Darlington School) got the start in goal for the Panthers, making eight saves. BSC was outshot 15-19 and had four shots on goal to Berry's 13.
The loss, the second straight defeat for BSC, drops the Panthers to 2-2 in the SAA and 4-3-1 on the road this season. Birmingham-Southern returns to the Hilltop for its next match against Centre on Friday, Oct. 18.
