BSC Falls to Centre 5-0 at Home

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's soccer team fell to Southern Athletic Association foe Centre College 5-0 on Friday evening.

A four-goal second half by the Colonels put the Panthers too far behind to in their effort to make a comeback after a 1-0 halftime deficit.

BSC handed Centre a penalty kick after a foul in the box in the 26th minute. The Colonels' Alexander Garuba converted the PK to open the scoring. In the final 45 minutes, Centre scored in the 56th, 72nd, 73rd and 80th minutes to secure the 5-nil win.

Senior goalkeeper Kurt Moore (Euharlee, Ga./Darlington School) was forced into 11 saves in the match. The Panthers were outshot by Centre 32-4.

Birmingham-Southern's next match will be against Sewanee on Sunday, Oct. 20. The game will serve as BSC's Senior Day and is the final regular season home game for the Panthers. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
