SAN ANTONIA, Texas – Birmingham-Southern football fell 20-10 Saturday at Trinity University in a battle for first place in the Southern Athletic Association. BSC (6-3) is now 5-2 in league play.
Robert Shufford (McKenzie, Ala./McKenzie HS) extended his 100-yard rushing streak to eight. The junior collected 144 yards on 30 carries with one touchdown. Wells Smith (Jackson, Tenn./University of Jackson) punted for a career-best 142 yards, averaging 35.5 per punt. His longest of the day was 46 yards.
Defensively, the Panthers were led by Ivan Villageois (Montgomery, Ala/Saint James School) and Myles Myers (Alpharetta, Ga./Johns Creek HS). Villageois earned nine tackles, four solo. And Myers finished with nine tackles, one solo, with a quarterback hurry and half a tackle for a loss.
BSC returns the Hilltop for their final game of the season. They host Millsaps College on Saturday, Nov. 16. It'll be senior day for the Panthers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
