WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – Birmingham-Southern track and field had a great showing at the JDL Flat Is Fast Invitational.
It was a good weekend for JJ's as Jordan Jones (Powder Springs, Ga./Hiram HS) and John Jacobs (Albany, Ga./Deerfield-Windsor HS) set new records. Jones became the new indoor triple jump record holder after going 14.42m to place first in the event. Jacobs ran a personal record 7.06 in the 60m dash to earn second place. The time made him the second fastest man in program history.
Griffin Riner (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) also placed second in his respective event after clearing 1.73m in the high jump. And Glen Humphrey (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) finished fourth overall in the 400m with a time of 51.81. He along with William Wideman (Marietta, Ga./Pope HS), Tony Parisi (Marietta, Ga./Pope HS), and Reece Weaver (Fort Payne, Ala./Fort Payne HS) placed first in the 4x400m relay. Their time of 3:29.20 was two seconds off the season best.
On the women's side, Jazmin Norris (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) excelled. The senior placed third in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 13.15m. She also earned sixth place in the shot put with a mark of 10.93m.
The Panthers will travel to Sewanee, Tenn. next for the Tiger Indoor Invitational on February 1.
