Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team routed the Centenary College Gents 21-2 at home on Tuesday night.
BSC dispatched the visitors with ease to pick up the second win of the season, not allowing a goal by the Gents until 5:21 left in the third quarter. By the time Centenary was able to end the shutout, the Panthers were up by 17 goals.
Senior attack Taylor Carson (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) and sophomore midfielder Carter McAlpin (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) combined for 10 of the Panthers' 21 goals, scoring five goals each. Carson also finished the game with three assists while McAlpin ended the game with four.
Junior Zac Venos (Charlotte, N.C./Cannon School), who won 15 of 19 faceoffs, recorded a game-high 10 ground balls. Junior defender Mike Greer (Memphis, Tenn./Evangelical Christian School) ended the game with a game-high three caused turnovers.
In goal, junior Luke Fajack (Chapel Hill, N.C./Bridgewater College) and sophomore Jordan Johnson (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll HS) split time. Fajack, who earned the win, and Johnson both had two saves in 30 minutes played.
With the win, Birmingham-Southern improves to 2-1 overall. The Panthers travel to Piedmont for their next game on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. ET.
