Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team defeated Huntingdon College 13-2 on the road on Wednesday night.
The Panthers, who improved to 3-3 on the season, scored 10 straight goals before giving up the shutout in the second half, and never looked back as they beat their rival to clinch the Yellowhammer Classic.
Three different Panthers – Reid Harrison (Fayetteville, Ga./Starr's Mill HS), Carter Watkins (Charlotte, N.C./Adrey Kell HS), and Taylor Carson (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS) – scored three goals each to lead BSC offensively. Sophomore attack Carter McAlpin (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS), the reigning Southern Athletic Association Offensively Player of the Week, scored two goals, as well. McAlpin's performance with two goals and a team-high five assists put him over the 100 career points milestone.
Junior goalkeeper Luke Fajack (Chapel Hill, N.C./Bridgewater College) got the start and recorded the win, making seven saves in his 45 minutes played.
BSC won 17 of the 19 faceoffs and took 40 total shots in the game.
Birmingham-Southern returns to the Hilltop for its next game against Bridgewater on March 3. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
