Panthers Open Season with 18-3 Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team picked up an 18-3 at home over LaGrange College on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers went on an eight-goal run to end the first half up 12-2, propelling BSC to the season-opening victory. Birmingham-Southern was dominate

Senior Taylor Carson (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook HS), who reached the 100 career points mark during the game, was the leading goal-scorer for the Panthers in the game with four goals. He also assisted on one more to Carter Watkins (Charlotte, N.C./Adrey Kell HS). Watkins finished the game with three goals and three assists and as BSC's top point-scorer on the day.

Carter McAlpin (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) and Braden McCombs (Hoover, Ala./Hoover HS) also ended the day with three goals each.

Junior Luke Fajack (Chapel Hill, N.C./Bridgewater College), in his first game in goal for BSC, recorded five saves and earned the win. Jordan Johnson (Birmingham, Ala./John Carroll HS), who came in in the second half, managed seven saves for BSC.

Birmingham-Southern moves to 1-0 on the year with the win. The Panthers will travel to Southwestern (Tex.) for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 15.
