WINCHESTER, Va. – Birmingham-Southern Track and Field had career-best performances at the South Region Final Qualifier hosted by Shenandoah University Saturday.
Monasia Taylor (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer HS) finished second overall in the 60m dash. She crossed in 7.98 seconds, just 0.02 off her personal record time. Alexus Lindsey (Holly Pond, Ala./Fairview HS) and Jazmin Norris (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills HS) both finished third in their respective events. Lindsey finished the 60m hurdles in a personal record time of 9.96 seconds. And Norris threw a personal record 14.49m in the weight throw.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Glen Humphrey (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS), Reece Weaver (Fort Payne, Ala./Fort Payne HS), William Wideman (Marietta, Ga./Pope HS), and Jordan Jones (Powder Springs, Ga./Hiram HS) finished second in a time of 3:30.60.
Track and field now prepares to move on to the outdoor season. BSC opens with its annual 'Southern Invitational March 13-14 in Krulak Stadium. But for Jones, his triple jump distance of 14.42m has held on as a top 20 mark and he will be competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships March 13-14 in Winston Salem, N.C. He is no stranger to the facility. His high mark was set there back on January 25.
