MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team opened Southern Athletic Association play with a 88-76 win over Rhodes College Friday night. BSC (4-1, 1-0 SAA) took the lead for the last time late in the first half and never looked back.
Five Panthers earned double-figures in the road win. They were led by
Christian Stewart (Birmingham, Ala./Shades Valley HS) who finished with 16 points.
Evan Sigler (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin HS) and
Josh Childers (Madison, Ala./Westminster Christian Academy) earned 14 and 12 points. And
Cameron Glover (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) and
Troy Stephens (Atlanta, Ga./St. Pius X Catholic HS) picked up 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ben Spence (Germantown, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) grabbed game-highs of 11 rebounds and two blocks.
BSC closes its series against Rhodes tomorrow afternoon. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
