SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Birmingham-Southern opened up their Thanksgiving weekend trip to Texas with a 108-76 loss to Trinity University (Texas). The Panthers competed hard in the first half going into the half down 10, the second half saw the Tigers pull away as they shot nearly 70-percent from the field.
BSC got the first basket and help a 2-0 lead but that is the only lead they would have. They tied it up 4-4 before the Tigers jumped out to an early 24-9 lead. A 15-4 run put Trinity ahead and they would not look back. They had a rhythm on offense all game shooting 56.2-percent from the floor and 36-percent from beyond the arc. Birmingham-Southern could never quite get the stops they needed and could not scratch away at the Tiger lead.
The Panthers came out of halftime down 10 but quickly changed after
Evan Sigler hit a three pointer. Again the Panthers could not use the momentum to cut into the lead, and Trinity would pull away some more. BSC did not have any answers for the Tiger offense in the second half, no matter what they did Trinity seemed to have an answer. Trinity shot 66.67-percent from the field in the second half and just over 36-percent from three-point land.
Birmingham-Southern fell to Trinity University (Texas) 108-76.
