ATLANTA, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team fell in their opening game of the Emory Holiday Classic to LaGrange by a score of 100-89.
Christian Stewart was dominate for the Panthers scoring 32 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in the loss.
Most of the first half was a back and forth battle seeing forth lead changes and three ties throughout the half. LaGrange started to pull away at the end and went on a 24-13 run to take an 11 point lead into halftime. LaGrange lit it up from the floor and BSC could not stop it. LaGrange shot 46.8% from the floor and 57.1% from three-point distance.
Out of halftime the Panthers could not get the offense to click and started to fall behind even more. With just about 10 minutes left the Panthers trailed by 23. BSC fought back and cut the lead to single digits after a made jump shot by
Christian Stewart. Unfortunately that is as close as the Panthers would get before the the final buzzer hit.
The Panthers fell 100-89 and split the season series with LaGrange.
