BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern men's and women's track and field teams hosted their annual BSC Icebreaker Indoor Meet today, and they did not disappoint in their showing as hosts. Four athletes finished top 10 in their event, other Panthers would hit their personal records (PR) in their respective events.
Jacob Kennedy a senior from Pinson, Ala. started the run of top 10 finishers with a top 10 finish in the Men's Shot Put. Kennedy finished with a throw length of 11.74 meters placing him 10th in the event.
The next three Panthers that placed top 10 were all in the Men's Long Jump.
Maurice Sutherland was the highest Birmingham-Southern athlete to place in the event with a jump length of 6.49 meters. Sutherland placed seventh.
Jordan Jones was just behind him with a jump of 6.32 meters placing him ninth in the event.
William Wideman rounded out the Panthers, placing 10th with a jump of 6.10 meters.
Monasia Taylor was impressive in the 60 meter dash. She would advance to the semi-finals after recording a time of 8.00 in the prelims. In the semi-finals she would be even more impressive though. Taylor recorded a PR with a time of 7.92. Although she did not advance to the finals, Taylor showed she could run with Division I and II competition.
Jailah Loving also advanced to the 60 meter dash semi-final and finished with a time of 8.02 after recording a time of 8.08 in the prelims.

The Panthers will have about a month off before they compete again. Their next meet will be Friday, Jan. 14 at the UAB Blazer Invitational. The meet will be held at the Birmingham Crossplex.
