MONTGOMERY, Ala. – No. 18 Birmingham-Southern softball swept local rival Huntingdon College Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers took game one 3-0 and then won the night cap 9-1.
Annie Clayton (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) led BSC in the circle and at the plate. She threw a complete game shutout to open the matchup, striking out six, and allowing just one hit. For the day, she led the team hitting .714 with five hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Reigning Southern Athletic Association player of the week
Kailey Walters (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville HS) went 4-for-7 including a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored.
Saydee Keith (Corner, Ala./Corner HS) finished with three hits of her own, including a triple, with two RBI and a run.
Lauren Keplinger (Pinson, Ala./Wallace State CC) picked up the game two win. She threw 2.1 innings and allowed just one run.
BSC (6-0) returns to action this Friday when they welcome Piedmont and Louisiana College to the Hilltop. The Panthers face Piedmont at 4 p.m. and the Wildcats at 6 p.m.
