BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 18 Birmingham-Southern softball topped Piedmont College 8-5 before a walk-off sixth inning home run gave them the 8-0 win over Louisiana College Friday night.
Annie Clayton (Eufaula, Ala./Eufaula HS) led all hitters going 5-for-7 including a double and a home run with three RBI and two runs scored. She finished with a 1.286 slugging percentage.
Saydee Keith (Corner, Ala./Corner HS) picked up three hits on the day, scored two runs, and earned two RBI. Four other Panthers had two hits.
Hailee Bryan (Lauren Hill, Fla./Paxton HS) earned the first win. She threw 2.2 innings and struck out three.
Lauren Keplinger (Pinson, Ala./Wallace State CC) struck out a team-high five batters in her complete game shutout win.
BSC (8-0) opens its annual classic tomorrow at the Hoover Met. They open with Mount St. Joseph at noon and then follow with Piedmont at 2 p.m.
