BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball opened its season and Southern Athletic Association play with a two-game sweep of Rhodes College Sunday. BSC (2-0) came from behind to defeat the Lynx 3-2 in game one, and then took game two 3-1.
Alyssa Coats (Nolensville, Tenn./Nolensville HS) averaged a double-double on the day. She finished with team-high 26 kills and 25 digs across the two matches.
Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) earned 65 assists en route to helping four other Panthers hit double figures. Defensively,
Julia Shoemake (Huntsville, Ala./The Randolph School) led with a team-high 28 digs. And
Leah Nielsen (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) had a team-high 12 blocks.
BSC stays at home next. They welcome Oglethorpe University to the Hilltop on Saturday, March 6 for a doubleheader. First match starts at noon.
