BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham-Southern women's volleyball dropped its first match of the season Saturday. After sweeping Southern Athletic Association rival Hendrix College 3-0 in game one, the Panthers fell 3-1 in the finale. BSC is now 7-1 overall and in conference play.
Alyssa Coats (Nolensville, Tenn./Nolensville HS) averaged a double-double on the day. She finished with 32 kills and 24 digs.
Gigi Fields (Columbus, Miss./Heritage Academy) and
Kennedy Dickens (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood HS) earned 21 and 20 kills, respectively.
Ansleigh Dailey (Daphne, Ala./Bayside Academy) paced the offense with 88 assists, averaging over 12.5 assists per set.
Defensively,
Leah Nielsen (Birmingham, Ala./Oak Mountain HS) led the team in blocks, finishing with 11 on the day. And
Julia Shoemake (Huntsville, Ala./The Randolph School) grabbed a team-best 36 digs.
BSC hits the road next. They take on Berry College April 3 in a doubleheader that could determine first place in the league. First match starts at 10 a.m.
