BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 8 Birmingham-Southern baseball team took both games of its series ending doubleheader against Rhodes College Sunday to improve to 10-5 overall and 2-2 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Panthers took game one 10-9 and won the night cap 14-9.
Andrew Dutton (Southside, Ala./Westbrook Christian) led BSC at the plate. He finished with four hits, three RBI, and two runs. Four other Panthers earned three hits on the day, including
Ian Hancock (Roswell, Ga./Pope HS) who hit a two-run home run.
Jack Stephens (Huntsville, Ala./Huntsville HS) and
Troy Bearden (Gulf Shores, Ala./Wallace-Dothan) picked up the wins. And
Josh Leerssen (Sandy Springs, Ga./Mount Bethel Christian)
struck out a team-best six batters.
The Panthers hit the road next. BSC continues SAA play at No. 23 Hendrix College for a two-day, four-game series that starts Saturday, March 13. First pitch on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
