BRASELTON, Ga. – Birmingham-Southern men's golf team opened the 2021 Southern Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship in third place out of eight teams through round one Friday at Chateau Elan Golf Club.
As a team, the Panthers shot 309 to end the first day of competition 17-over par and four strokes behind Oglethorpe (305). Sewanee leads the field with a score of 296.
Junior Sammy Brucker (Franklin, Tenn. / Furman) and Sophomore
Connor Hawkins (Franklin, Tenn. / Franklin HS) led BSC on Friday, each shooting a 76 to finish round one tied for sixth place and three-over par.
Sophomore Price Bryan (Jackson, Miss. / Saint Andrews Episcopal) finished the round inside the top 20. Bryan shot a 77 to finish tied for 11th place and four-over par.
Junior Brock Baker and Junior
Slade Dawson completed BSC's top 25 finishers. Baker shot a 80 to finish tied for 21st place and 7-over par. While Dawson shot a 81 to finish tied for 23rd and 8-over par.
Birmingham-Southern will pick up the tournament with round two at Chateau Elan - Legends Course on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. ET.
