HIGH POINT, N.C. - Birmingham-Southern College lost 6-3 to Lynchburg on Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Baseball Regional. The Panthers (26-15) will meet second-seed Washington & Jefferson in an elimination game Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT at Truist Point Stadium.
Jack Fleming (Suwanee, Ga./Lambert HS) had two hits and two RBI to lead BSC, including a single in the first inning to score
Cole Steadman (Birmingham, Ala./Briarwood Christian) for a 1-0 lead. He also drove in a run in the ninth inning.
Lynchburg answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. While Brandon Williams tied the game in the top of the second with an RBI fielder's choice, Lynchburg regained the lead with a two-run third inning and runs in the fifth and seventh.
Ian Hancock (Roswell, Ga./Pope HS) also had two hits for the Panthers, while Steadman,
Drew Love (Birmingham, Ala./Gardendale HS),
Will Evans (Peachtree City, Ga./Starrs Mill HS) and
Alfredo Granier (Atlanta, Ga./Holy Innocents' Episcopal) each had a hit.
Tristan Harvin (Dothan, Ala./Houston Academy) (4-2) took the loss, allowing three earned runs, six total, through seven innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Luke Drummond (Temple Terrace, Fla./King HS) pitched an inning in relief.
