JACKSON, Miss. - The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team fell to region foe, Belhaven University by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 4. The Blazers out shot the Panthers 13-5 and 8-2 on shots on goal.
The Panthers had the momentum early getting three shots off in the first 15 minutes with two of them being on goal. With BSC not being able to capitalize on their shot, Belhaven took advantage and was able to strike first in th 31st minute. The Blazers Anna Crane found the back of the net to put the Blazers up 1-0. The score remained 1-0 as the teams went to halftime.
The second half started quickly as Belhaven scored just a minute and 45 seconds into the second half to extend their lead to 2-0. The Panthers were not able to overcome the strong Belhaven defense as BSC was only able to get off two shots in the second half none of which made it on goal.
The Belhaven defense proved to be too much in the second half and the Panthers ended up falling 2-0.
