Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

BSC SUCCUMBS TO SEWANEE

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team falls to Sewanee in spite of a solid defensive performance.

The Panthers looked to have their work cut out for them from the first kick with the Tigers firing off shots early and often. While they were able to keep the first few from reaching the net, one would slip by to give the Tigers a very early lead.

In response, the Panthers put more pressure on the opposition, working to get a decent shot on goal only to be blocked at the last second. The remainder of the half was composed of a great effort to keep the Tigers from extending their lead any further.

Sophie Smith was able to get an early shot for the Panthers in the second half to try to even the score, but this would prove to be their last opportunity. The Tigers went on to dominate possession of the ball down the stretch scoring a second goal in the final minutes to seal the match.

The standout performance of the match came from the Panthers goalkeeper, Mary Claire Henry, who stayed in goal the entire match. In her minutes, she faced 28 shots and tallied 11 saves helping to keep the score within a manageable range.
