ATLANTA, Ga. - The Birmingham-Southern men's swim and dive team competed against topped ranked Emory University on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Panthers fought hard against a nationally ranked opponent.
Joe Swing got the Panthers on the board with a fourth place finish in the men's 1000 yard freestyle. The fourth place finish earned the Panthers two points.
Jakob Icimsoy also earned two points with a seventh place finish in the 200 yard freestyle race. Icimsoy also finished third in the 100 yard freestlye to earn three more points.
Connor McClain earned three points for BSC with a third place finish in the 50 yard freestyle. McClain finished with a time of 22.19.
For the divers, BSC took three of the top five spots with 2021 All-American
Avery Balch finishing second,
Justin Toth finishing fourth and
Sam Tennell finishing fifth in the three meter dive event.
Avery Balch Garrett George, and
Justin Toth all earned qualifying scores for the NCAA Regional meet. Balch also broke the 3-meter six dive program record.
BSC finished sweeping the top three position in the final four swim events to finish the meet strong
