GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Avery Balch of the Birmingham-Southern men's diving team took home third place in the three meter dive finals on Wednesday night at the 2024 NCAA Division III Diving Championships.
The BSC diving trio of
Avery Balch,
Garrett George, and
Justin Toth competed in the three meter event today with the one meter event coming up on Friday. After prelims in the morning, Balch qualified for the finals with a second place finish with a chance to compete for the national title.
Justin Toth and
Garrett George finished ninth and tenth respectively to earn places in the consolation final.
In the consolation final at 4:00 p.m. EST,
Garrett George and
Justin Toth finished second and third for a ninth and tenth overall placement respectively. George scored a 491.00 while Toth scored a 485.55 in the event.
In the final at 6:00 p.m. EST,
Avery Balch was excellent on the national stage. The junior capped off a spectacular 3m diving season with a final score of 546.45 to place third in the country.
