BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's soccer team lost in a hard-fought battle against the Stormy Petrels.
The match began with high hopes as the Panthers were able stay on the attack and get an early look at the goal from
Ansley Hicks. On the defensive end, the Panthers also showed promise preventing any scoring in the half.
The Panthers continued on the attack throughout racking up several corner kicks to set up potential scores. Despite this, the first half would end in a draw, but the Panther appeared to be wearing down their opposition.
The second half looked to be more of the same with early shots from Hicks and
Madeleine Ash for the Panthers. A shift in the tide seemed to be coming with two quick cautions on the Stormy Petrels.
Unfortunately, this shift would be all the Petrels needed to score and seize a lead. The Panthers would make a strong push to score as time expired, but the opposing defense locked down.
