BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After suffering a loss to MUW on Friday night, the Panthers responded with an 86-75 win over the Piedmont University Lions. The win concluded the Black-Tie Classic in which BSC went 1-1.
The Panthers got up early in the first half and stayed up not allowing Piedmont to gain the lead in the period. BSC opened up on a 13-6 scoring run with nine points coming from
Bryson Bishop. Piedmont would try to climb there way back in, but each time the Panthers would get a stop and extend their lead back. The Panthers led by as much as 13 in the first half. With 5:52 to go in the first half
Martise Jackson made a layup to put the Panthers up 13. The Lions were able to fight back a little before half but it was the Panthers with the lead as both teams headed to the locker room.
Coming out of half, both teams went back and forth before Piedmont eventually took their first lead of the game with 16:36 to go in the second half. The teams would trade leads eight times before the Panthers went on an 11-1 run to seal the game. Up 82-72 with 1:21 to go Piedmont decided to stop fouling and play defense but the Panthers were able to put up four more points before the clock expired.
