COLUMBUS, Miss. - Josh Childers scored three points with less than 10 seconds on the clock to push BSC past MUW 74-72.
After losing to MUW a week ago the Panthers bounced back with a hard fought victory against MUW. The Panthers and Owls traded baskets for a lot of the first half. About half way through the period the Owls went on a 9-0 run to take a 20-12 lead, but the Panthers would go get hot shooting the ball and went on a 16-2 run to take a 28-22 lead with three minutes to go in the half. The Panthers got baskets from five different scorers. The Owls would fight back and tie the game before BSC got a late bucket to take a 32-30 lead into halftime.
Out of the half the Owls went on another nine point run to regain the lead and go up 39-33 early in the second half. The Owls carried that momentum and got up by as much as 17 points with 13:48 remaining in the game. With under six minutes to play the Panthers went on a 12-2 run to tie the game up 62-62. The rest of the game was a battle and came down to who had the last possession. MUW missed a few key shots late and the Panthers capitalized on the other end of the court converting their chances.
Josh Childers hit a lay up to take a one point lead and made one of two free throws to give the Panthers a victory over the Owls.
