LEWIS' RECORD SETTING DAY LEADS BSC OVER COLONELS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomore running back, Jon Lewis set the single-game record for most rushing yards and tied the single-game record for rushing touchdowns. Lewis ran wild picking up 341 yards and rushing for four touchdowns against the Centre Colonels. BSC defeated Centre 42-21. 

After trading possessions to open up the game Centre took over with 9:57 on the clock. The Colonels drove down the field getting to the Birmingham-Southern 12-yard line. Fortunately for the Panthers, The Colonels would miss a 28-yard field goal wide left. BSC would take full advantage of the miss driving down the field with, the drive being capped off by a 36-yard touchdown run from Jon Lewis.

After forcing Centre to punt, BSC scored again on just two plays. After an incompletion on the first play, Lewis broke a 76-yard touchdown run to put the Panthers up 14-0 early in the second quarter. On the very next Panther possession Lewis scored his third touchdown of the game scampering in from 14-yards out. The Panthers would go into halftime with a 21-0 lead. 

To open up the second half BSC went on an eight play, 72-yard drive to go up 28-0. After trading possessions for the remainder of the third quarter, the Colonels got on the board. BSC would block the extra point and the Panthers still lead 28-6. 

BSC extended its lead after Lewis again broke a big run for a touchdown. This time a 90-yard score to put BSC up 35-6. Centre scored on the following possession and after converted a two-point conversion. On the ensuing kickoff Centre would recover an onside kick and quickly go down the field and score again cutting the BSC lead to 35-21. 

Another touchdown by BSC capped off the scoring and secured the Panthers fourth straight win.
