PANTHERS SPLIT SEASON SERIES WITH PIEDMONT

DEMOREST, Ga. - After leading by as much as 12 points at the under-16 media timeout in the second half against Piedmont, poor shooting in the middle stretch of the second half proved to be costly as Piedmont defeated Birmingham-Southern 82-70 on Saturday night. The loss results in the Panthers and Lions splitting the season series with the home team winning each contest.

BSC had two players score in double figures, as Cam Glover posted 22 points to lead all Panther scorers while adding three rebounds and three assists. Josh Childers notched his sixth consecutive double-figure game, going 6-of-9 from the charity stripe in his 14-point game. Childers also led all Panthers in rebounding.

The Lions were led by a 23-point, six-rebound performance from Ryan Jolly. Jolly made 9-of-11 shots from the floor in the game as Piedmont shot 49.2-percent for the game.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead, leading by as much as 10-points after a Charlie Barnett three-pointer with just under 12-minutes to go in the first half. Piedmont proceeded to go on a 15-2 run to gain the lead late in the first half. It was the Panthers that came out ahead after the first half going on a 9-0 run to close out the first period and taking a five point lead.

The Panthers carried that momentum over to the second half increasing their lead to as much as 12 points at the under-16 media timeout. After the under 16-media timeout the Panthers missed six of their next eight shots, but still clung to a one point lead with 7:34 remaining in the game. The shooting woes continued though missing seven of their next eight shots and now found them selves trailing by seven. The Panthers could not get out of their funk and fell to Piedmont.
