PANTHERS OPEN SEASON WITH ROAD WIN

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team took to the road Friday, February 11 as they defeated Transylvania 15-6. 

BSC recorded the first two goals of the game as Margot Peters and Kathleen Napier gave the Panthers an early lead. With two minutes to go in the quarter Transylvania scored to cut the Birmingham-Southern lead in half.

After a slow start in the first quarter the offense picked up in the second quarter. The teams combined to score 10 goals in the quarter. Again the Panthers scored the first two goals of the quarter giving them a 4-1 edge over the Pioneers. Transy scored to cut into the BSC lead but that would be as close as they got the rest of the game. Birmingham-Southern proceeded to score the next four goals to take a dominate 8-2 lead. BSC got one more goal before the end of the half and took a 8-4 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break Birmingham-Southern kept the offensive attack up. They closed the game scoring six more goals while only giving up two. Kathleen Napier and Margot Peters each recorded a hat trick and three other Panthers scored multiple goals. BSC won their season opener 15-6.

The Panthers will stay on the road as they travel to Hanover, Ind. to take on Hanover College on Sunday, Feb. 13. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
