PANTHERS CAP OFF WEEKEND WITH DOMINITE WIN

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Panthers finished off and a great weekend of baseball in dominate fashion, handing Lynchburg their first loss of the season after defeating the Hornets 12-3.

Four the fourth time in six games the Panthers were able to score in the first inning. A two-out double to right center, off the bat of Jack Fleming gave BSC an early 2-0 lead. Both pitchers settled in a bit and did not allow a run over the next two innings pitched.

In the top of the fourth, after putting the first three batters on base and giving up a run Ricky Harrison danced out of danger and did not allow Lynchburg to tie the game. The Panthers used that as momentum on offense in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs the Birmingham-Southern bats came alive and recorded two doubles and a single to bring in three runs and extend their lead to 5-1.

The Panthers recorded a run in each of the next four innings. BSC plated two in the fifth, one in the sixth, one in the seventh, and put the game out of reach after a three-run eighth inning. After eight innings BSC led 12-3. The Panthers took care of business in the ninth and won the game 12-3.
