BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After allowing four runs in the first inning the Panthers responded with five runs of their own and then six more in the second inning to help them defeat UW-Oshkosh 14-7 and pick up their fifth win of the season.
The Titans of UW-Oshkosh struck first as they were able to take advantage of five first inning walks. The Titans plated four runs in the inning off one hit. BSC was not phased and came back and scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Ian Hancock drove in four of the five runs after hitting a grand slam to left center.
After a clean second inning Birmingham-Southern kept the bats rolling scoring six runs in the second. Hancock came through again with a two RBI single up the middle. Cam McNearney followed that up with an RBI single, and
Wes Diamantis cleared the bases with three run homerun. With an 11-4 lead the Panthers were in the drivers seat.
After a scoreless third and fourth inning the Panthers got back in the run column scoring two and extending their lead 13-4. UW-Oshkosh fought back in the eighth plating three runs and cutting the lead to 14-7 but that was as close as they got. The Panthers were able to close down the game in the ninth and win 14-7.
