BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Panthers finished up their run in the BSC Softball Classic in games against Huntingdon and DePauw University. Both games ended in losses for the Panthers with both opposing team finishing their lead in the last inning.
Game one: Huntingdon was the first on the board in the game, scoring their first run in the top of the second inning. The Hawks went on to score their second run in the top of the third, leading the Panthers 2-0.
Alyssa Fowler got things moving for the Panthers in the bottom of the third with a double to right center field.
Morgan McGuire had a sac-bunt that advanced Fowler to third, who then scored when
Kaylyn Chapman reached on a fielders choice.
Huntingdon kept up their momentum, scoring three more runs in the top of the fourth, making it 5-1. The Panthers were not done fighting though as
Leah Wood singled up the middle to start off the bottom of the fourth.
Lauren Cabiness singled through the right side and
Cassidy Dickson doubled to right center to bring in Cabiness and Lowery, who pinch ran for Wood.
Alyssa Fowler brought in the third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to right center, which put the Panthers only down by one at 5-4. Both teams failed to put up any more runs until the top of the sixth when Huntingdon brought two more in to extend their lead to 7-4. The Hawks pushed even further out bringing in two more runs in the top of the seventh, polishing off their lead in the final inning.

Game two: The Panthers were looking to bounce back against the Tigers after their loss to Huntingdon. DePauw was the first on the board in the top of the first when they scored on an RBI triple to left field. The Panthers would remain runless, while the Tigers put up another run with a home run to left field in the top of the second.
Izzy Berkopec got things rolling for the Panthers with a double to left field, while
Lauren Cabiness drew a walk in the next at bat.
Alyssa Fowler singled to third base on a bunt and Berkopec scored on the throw.
The score would remain 2-1 until the top of the seventh when DePauw would add two more runs to make the score 4-1. In the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second,
Leah Wood singled through the right side to bring in
Sam Hilyer.
Kailey Walters singled to right field to bring in the next run, making it a one-run game at 4-3. Unfortunately, the Panthers were unable to capitalize on another run, falling to the Tigers in the bottom of the seventh.
