Birmingham, Al. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team returned home after winning all three games while on the road. Southern came into today's game going against the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan University and dominated by collecting another win with a final score of 14-5.
Carter McAlpin and
Austin Johnson started it off for the Panthers scoring a combine total of four goals in the first quarter.
Cameron Herd picked up on the momentum and scored three goals himself in the second quarter.
Kyle Winter added on to the goals putting up one. The Panthers led the game at halftime with a score of 8-2. The Marlins tried to make a comeback in the third quarter putting up three goals, but Kris Knisley and
Austin Johnson added to the team's lead scoring a combine total of two goals. The Panthers defense was dominate holding VWU to zero goals in the fourth quarter.
Cameron Herd,
Robert Marquet, and
Raymond Fracchia helped increase the Panthers lead with a final score of 14-5.
Cameron Herd led the Panthers in goals recording four total. Herd added on two assist and ground balls.
Carter McAlpin picked up seven assists, five ground balls, and two goals.
Will Johns was dominate on the faceoffs recording eight ground balls
Luke Fajack recorded picked up the win for the game with 11 saves.
