Box Score 3 LEXINGTON, Ky. – Birmingham-Southern men's tennis finished 2-1 in the Transylvania Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The Panthers swept both singles and doubles play against Transylvania in a 9-0 victory. Following their sweep, they fell to Asbury 6-3 but came back to defeat Emory & Henry 7-2.
Match one: BSC was ready to go in their first match of the Transylvania Invitational. The Panthers took all three doubles matches with the No. 3 duo of
Tyler Guerra and
Tom Smith finishing first with a 8-2 victory. No. 2 duo
Hallet Green and
Elijah Ingleson finished next, followed by
Wilbur Dotson and
Tanner Debardelaben, both with 8-5 wins.
The No. 1, 2 and 5 matchups were won in straight sets by the Panthers.
Reed Martinson,
Dru Gresham and
Luke Mitchell had to fight for their singles wins, going into 3 sets. Birmingham-Southern came out victorious with a 9-0 victory.

Match two: The Panthers were coming off hot from their match of the invitational, looking for another win. They continued their strong play into the doubles matchups against Asbury. The No. 1 duo of
Wilbur Dotson and
Tanner Debardelaben took their victory, 8-6. The No. 2 duo of
Hallet Green and
Elijah Ingleson gained the second victory for the Panthers with an 8-7 win over Asbury's No. 2 doubles.
BSC had a 2-1 lead going into singles play and were hoping to finish the off their win. Unfortunately,
Wilbur Dotson, in the No. 2 position, was the only Panther to win a singles match. It was not enough for Birmingham-Southern to keep their lead and they ultimately fell to Asbury, 6-3.

Match three: Birmingham-Southern was looking for another win to finish the tournament with a positive record. Once again the Panthers doubles play proved to be quite impressive with all three matchups being victories over Emory & Henry. The No. 3 duo of
Tom Smith and
Tyler Guerra finished first in a 8-0 win, followed by the No. 1 and No. 2 duos that both finished with scores of 8-2.
Holding a 3-0 lead, the Panthers were very optimistic going into their singles play.
Tom Smith was the first to finish in the No. 6 position with 6-0 victories in straight sets. Next up was
Tanner Debardelaben in the No. 5 position, beating his opponent 6-0, then 6-1.
Hallet Green and
Wilbur Dotson were the next to finish with Green capturing his victory in straight sets, while Dotson got pushed to three sets.
With a strong start in doubles play, the Panthers were able to hold their lead and take a win of 7-2 over Emory & Henry.
