PANTHERS WIN TOP 10 SHOWDOWN

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Tonight the Birmingham-Southern baseball team beat No. 5 Adrian College 6-2. The Panthers took an early lead and led wire-to-wire adding another quality win to their resume.

The Panthers struck first getting on the board in the second inning. With the bases loaded Cole Steadman hit a ground ball to the first basemen, and the ball took a funky hop up on the defensive player. He was unable to make the play and Will Lantis scored to break the 0-0 tie. Noah Best dug in and drew a walk to push across another run, and after two innings the Panthers led 2-0.

BSC added a run in the fourth as Best came through again singling through the left side scoring Will Lantis to extend the Panther lead 3-0. In the top of the fifth the Bulldogs would get a run back. Ricky Harrison tried to dance out of some trouble but was unable to and Preston Jenkins came in to relieve him after 4.2 innings pitched of one run baseball. Jenkins got the next hitter to ground out to the first basemen to end the inning.

Adrian cut the lead to one in the seventh after scoring on a pass ball. Davis Williams relieved Jenkins and would throw the last three innings to collect a save. The Panthers got a run back in the seventh, and added two more the eighth to win the game 6-2 after shutting the Bulldogs down in the eighth and ninth inning.
