BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Denman Kane was one point shy of tying his career high in points scored, and for the second time this season scored in double figures. Kane's 14 points helped the Panthers beat Centre in a pivotal SAA matchup.
BSC jumped out to an early eight-point lead and later would extend that to 10-points after Denman hit one of his four three pointers. Late in the period Centre went on a 16-5 spurt to tie the game 38-38 with 1:06 remaining in the half. After a poor start to the half Centre closed the half out strong and took a two point lead into halftime over the Panthers.
Out of halftime both teams came out firing, trading baskets up until the half way point in the period. With about 11 minutes to go the Panthers went on a 15-6 run and took a nine point lead. From that point on they never looked back. BSC extended its lead to double digits with 8:06 left in the half and kept a double digit lead for the rest of the half.
Christian Stewart and
Paul Fitzgerald led all scorers with eight points in the second half.
