JACKSON, Miss. - The second half proved to be the difference in the game for the Majors and Panthers. After being tied at half Millsaps outscored the Panthers by eight in the second half to win 86-78.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead before Millsaps fought back and tied the game. The teams traded leads for the majority of the first half. As the half started to draw closer to ending, both teams lost their rhythm on offense. With 4:07 remaining
Luke Touliatos hit a three-point basket to tie the game. Each team would only score three more points before half, going to the locker room tied 31-31.
The Panthers opened up the second half with a 7-0 run, with points from three different scorers, including
Cameron Glover,
Christian Stewart, and
Josh Childers. The Panthers were unable to extend their lead any further, and Millsaps clawed their way back into the game. With 13:49 remaining in the second half Millsaps regained the lead after making a three-point jump shot.
The Panthers stuck around keeping the game within one possession or taking a small lead for most of the second half. Down the stretch BSC lost their offensive rhythm and Millsaps took advantage building up a nine point lead with 2:15 to play. The Panthers never gave up and started to make the game interesting with under a minute to play. After Touliatos hit three-pointer to bring it to a two possession game, BSC gained some confidence. It was too little too late as they could not muster up any late game magic and feel to Millsaps 86-78.
