BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the second game in a row the Birmingham-Southern women's lacrosse team went into overtime. This time the Panthers came out victorious thanks to
Marissa Henderson who netted the game-winning goal in overtime.
Wittenberg opened the game firing on all cylinders taking an early 3-0 lead. After a timeout the Panthers came back and tied it up with 9:42 to go in the second quarter. Wittenberg got one goal before halftime and took a 4-3 lead into the break.
The Tigers got the first goal out of halftime, but from that point forward BSC would outscore Wittenberg 6-3.
Margot Peters put the Panthers up one goal as they entered the fourth quarter. BSC and Wittenberg traded goals in the fourth quarter and would end up tied at the end of regulation after neither team could break the tie in the final five minutes of the game.
In overtime Wittenberg took possession first but was unable to score and Birmingham-Southern took full advantage of Tiger turnover. After being awarded a free position attempt
Marissa Henderson netted her third goal of the game to lift the Panthers over the Tigers 9-8 in overtime.
