BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Panther defense proved to be strong today, not allowing the Colonels to score a single run in two games. Birmingham-Southern run ruled Centre in the first game of the day, 10-0, and won the second 4-0.
Game one
Birmingham-Southern started it off in the bottom of the third with
Hailee Bryan drawing a walk that allowed
Sam Hilyer to score on a passed ball. With Bryan and
Leah Wood on base,
Izzy Berkopec singled through the left side to bring home Wood and put the Panthers up 2-0 to end the third inning.
The Panthers kept their momentum going in the bottom of fourth, adding eight more runs. A single from
Kailey Walters brought home
Kaylyn Chapman to push it to a 3-0 lead.
Jada Askew hit a grand slam that extended the Panthers lead and pushed them one run away from a run-rule lead. BSC added three more runs before the inning was up, leading 10-0 by the end of the fourth inning. Fighting off the Colonels from scoring, the Panthers were able to end the game after the fifth due to their lead.

Game two
BSC took the early lead again in the second game of the day, putting up three runs in the bottom of the second.
Cassidy Dickson scored
Jada Askew with an RBI triple to put the Panthers on the board.
Alyssa Fowler and
Morgan McGuire both brought in runs to extend the Panther lead to 3-0 by the end of the second inning.
Birmingham-Southern added another run in the bottom of fifth when
Kailey Walters singled thorugh the left side to score
Morgan McGuire. The Panther defense did not allow Centre a single hit until the sixth inning, but were able to hold them off, eventually ending the game 4-0.
