ROME, Ga. - A big third quarter helped the Panthers power past conference foe Berry today (March 18) as they earned their first conference victory by a score of 20-14.
Berry opened up the scoring five minutes into the game, but it was all Panthers for the rest of the quarter following the goal. Birmingham-Southern tied the game up four minutes later on a
Kendal Vick goal. BSC netted for more goals to take a 5-1 lead.
During the second quarter there was a shift in momentum and the Vikings took control. After BSC extended their lead to 7-2, Berry turned their offense up. Just 35 seconds before halftime Berry got within one goal of the Panthers. BSC took a 9-8 lead into halftime.
Out of the break Birmingham-Southern took control outscoring Berry by five in the third quarter. Birmingham-Southern scored seven goals from four different goal scorers and only conceded two in the period.
Marissa Henderson recorded a hat trick in the quarter.
The Panthers held on to the lead in the fourth quarter not allowing Berry to get any closer, and beat the Vikings 20-14.
