JACKSON, Miss. - The Birmingham-Southern softball team kept their momentum going to earn the sweep on the weekend against Millsaps. The pitching for the Panthers stood out with a combined 13 strikeouts on the weekend and
Hailee Bryan throwing a no hitter in game one.
Millsaps was the first on the board in the bottom of the first inning, leading 1-0. The Majors stayed in the lead until the top of the third inning.
Leah Wood was up to bat with bases loaded and was hit by a pitch, which brought in
Morgan McGuire to score to tie up the game. A 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the third allowed the Panthers to keep their score tied and push to take a lead.
Morgan McGuire reached base on an error by the second baseman, but drove in
Kaylyn Chapman to take the lead 2-1 for the Panthers.
Alyssa Fowler had an RBI sacrifice bunt in the top of the sixth to score
Krislyn Dapprich, making the score 3-1. The Panthers were able to keep off the Majors from scoring again, taking the game 3-1.
