Box Score 4 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham-Southern softball team had a very successful spring break, going 5-0 on the week with each series having a run-ruled game. The Panthers started off at Belhaven, taking down the Blazers 6-4 and then played a doubleheader against Wesleyan, winning the first game 9-0 in 5 innings and took the second 5-2. Their final series was against Maryville and the Panthers took the first game 9-2, then run-ruled 10-2 in the second game.
BSC recorded 39 runs on 53 hits in their 5 victories during the week of March 21-27.
Jada Askew had a phenomenal week, ending it with 13 RBIs and three homeruns. Askew went 7-for-18 on the week with two homeruns against Maryville in the first victory of the doubleheader, and hitting her second grand slam of the year in the second game.
Kailey Walters went 8-for-16 on the week, hitting .500 with 9 RBIs. Walters had one homerun in the Panthers second game against Maryville.
Kaylyn Chapman also had a good week with 5 runs scored. Chapman went 7-for-17 and hit .412 for the week. In the Panthers run-rule victory over Maryville,
Madi Mitchell saw the plate and got her first career hit as a Panther. Another big first for Birmingham-Southern was for
Taylor Peters who recorded her first career strikeout in the same game.
Hailee Bryan was a standout pitcher for the Panthers. Bryan recorded a one-hitter in BSC's run-rule victory over Wesleyan and saw a career high 11 strikeouts in the first win over Maryville. She pitched 17 innings during the week, only allowing 3 runs and recording 24 total strikeouts.
