Birmingham, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's lacrosse team opened conference play up taking on the Tigers of Sewanee. The Panthers brought the momentum from last game against Carthage College into today's matchup and dominated with a final score of 17-7.
First quarter was a back-and-forth battle with both teams putting up three goals apiece. Sewanee started it off scoring the first goal of the game. BSC answered back to tie the game 1-1.
Micah Finotti and
Austin Johnson added two more goals for the Panthers to end the quarter tied 3-3. Southern came into the second quarter scoring five goals in a row. This would put the Panthers up 9-4 going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime,
Cameron Herd started it off for BSC in the third quarter scoring the first goal of the quarter. Panthers held Sewanee to one goal this quarter making the score 12-5 at the end of the third. BSC would go on to score five more goals in the fourth quarter and collect their first conference win with a final score of 17-7.
Cameron Herd dominated for the Panthers leading the team in goals with six total.
Will Johns picked up seven groundballs for BSC.
Austin Johnson contributed a total of four goals.
Luke Fajack recorded eight saves and was the winning goalie.
